Everything you need to know about Shopify pricing and plans

Shopify is one of the most popular ecommerce platforms available. Offering a quick and easy way to get a store up and running and sell your products online, the platform is used by businesses of all types and sizes.

There are a number of different pricing plans to choose from. So, if you’re thinking about setting up e-commerce with Shopify, you’ll need to consider the different packages and their features to find which one is best for you.

What is Shopify?

Shopify is an application that allows you to build your own store online. It is a hosted solution, meaning you won’t need to download or install any software to use it. All you’ll need is internet access.

There are various different packages to choose from, and the functionality you get will depend on the plan you choose.

How much does Shopify cost?

Shopify offers a range of pricing plans, with features ranging from basic functionality for small stores, right through to the advanced functionality required by global enterprises.

There are five different plans to choose from – Shopify Lite, Basic Shopify, Advanced Shopify, and Shopify Plus.

Shopify Lite

$9 per month

This is the lowest tier package Shopify current offers. Affordable yet functional, the Lite plan is ideal for small businesses looking to add Shopify checkout features to their social channels and blogs.

With Shopify Lite, you won’t get a standalone online store. Instead, you’ll be able to use an existing website to sell your products, sell on Facebook, and use Shopify as a backend system to sell in off-line locations.

Shopify Basic

$29 per month, 2.2% + 20p for Shopify payments

Shopify Basic is the next tier up. With this plan, you’ll have the option to open your own online store via the Shopify platform. The plan includes everything you’ll need to get started selling online, including your own site with hosting and SSL certificate, basic reports, abandon cart emails, 24/7 support, and more.

Shopify

$79 per month, 1.9% + 20p for Shopify payments

The Shopify price plan includes everything that comes with the Shopify Basic package, with some added features on top. The main difference with this plan is that you get professional reporting tools, which will allow you to collect and analyse your store’s data. You’ll also be able to produce additional reports, including retail sales, customer, and sales reports, which can be hugely beneficial to your growing business.

This mid-tier package also includes 3 additional staff accounts, and up to 5 inventory management locations.

Shopify Advanced

$299 per month, 1.6% + 20p for Shopify payments

Shopify Advanced is ideal for businesses who are scaling up. With this advanced plan, you’ll get all the same key features as the Shopify package, along with some useful extras.

Advanced reporting is available, designed for stores that sell a significant number of products and want to be able to collect data for specific collections or type of products. You’ll also be able to have up to 15 members of staff, as well as up to 8 inventory locations.

With the advanced package, you’ll also benefit from lower credit card rates, and have access to third party shipping rates. So, if you have an account with a shipping carrier, you’ll be able to display your negotiated shipping rates to your customers at the checkout.

Shopify Plus

$2,000 per month

Shopify Plus is designed for large enterprises with a revenue of $1million or more. This is a highly customized plan, starting from $2,000 per month. If you opt for this plan, you’ll need to discuss your needs with the Shopify team, who will then put a custom price together for you.

Which Shopify Plan is right for me?

The best Shopify plan for you will depend upon a range of factors, including the size of your business, the amount of products you sell, and the features you want from your plan.

If you simply want an affordable way to add e-commerce functionality to your existing blog or site, Shopify Lite could be the best option. Or, if you don’t already have a website to use with the Lite plan, the Basic Shopify package will enable you to create a functional and stylish online store.

For companies scaling up quickly, the Shopify plan offers unlimited products and storage, as well as tools to boost sales, while the Advanced Shopify Plan is ideal for companies who would prefer their shipping to be handled by a third party, as well as high revenue businesses looking for advanced reports.

And, if you’re still not sure, Shopify offers a free trial, so you can try out the plans and decide which one works for your business, before committing to a specific packag
